Limerick, Poem

Ribbit!

Written for Esther’s Laughing Along
With A Limerick #246
incorporating
the word ‘sing’. This is my limerick.

A brave little frog tried to sing,

With a voice like a rusty old spring.

He’d croak out a note,

From his wobbly throat,

And all the little buggies took wing!

    1. Thanks for reminding be about that classic short story by Mark Twain, one I have not read in a very long time. 🐸 This was a wonderful limerick to write; everything fell into place nicely and I had fun with it. 🤗 I’m pleased to know you enjoyed it, too. Thanks, Michele. ☺️

  1. Love the limerick! And thank you for not playing the awful McCartney song!

Back in the 60s we had a singer-songwriter called Raymond Froggatt, who built a cult following. I had one of his albums, which contained his version of this: Froggatt Went ACourting, of course!

      1. The Frog Chorus, it would have been a fit for your limerick but it is really terrible!

I doubt if Raymond Froggatt ever achieved anything over there – he was popular here and in mainland Europe for a while. Probably his best known song was Red Balloon, also known as In A Gadda Da Vida. His version was a bit different from Vanilla Fudge’s!
