Lullaby

Small one,
eyes wide in the dark,
a tiny cry,
a whimper lost
in the hush of night.

But see,
on the shelf,
a glimmer.
A church serene,
its windows
painted soft light.

The amber glow
casts shadows that dance
on the nursery wall,
like angels breathing low.

Fingers unfurl,
grip the blanket tight,
a slow blink, then another.

The church light comforts,
promises dreams,
and tiny breath
finds rhythm again.

Sleep comes,
soft as whispered prayers.
