A baby turns,
eyes wide with wonder,
soft hands grasping at beams of light.

New beginnings,
an infinite sweep of time’s gentle arm.

Once a child chasing dreams
like shadows on stone walls.

Now standing tall,
she dances across the sky,
remembering her roots.

          1. I can only imagine. None of us (sisters) have reached that milestone yet and there are wagers on which one it will happen to, first.
It is very possible you will! Can you imagine, we had five generations – twice!

            Buonagiornata, amica mia 💞

            1. Buongiorno, cara! The most I had at one time was four generations; our great-grandmother shared a bedroom with me and my sister for a few years!

If I want to go for a walk, I getter do it before 9AM; the temps are rapidly rising. Bill is convinced the gub’ment is messing with the weather.

              1. Four is a little bit more popular than five, that is for sure. And if any of our kids manage to produce in the next few years, we will have four with my mother. And oh wow! Great-nonna shared with you girls!

Same here. I was supposed to go for a run this morning but I forgot to change my alarm to ring a half-hour earlier, Oh well… I dunno who is messing with it but if you do catch him (has to be a him, no right-minded woman would up the temps like this!) cut him off at the balls!

  1. Eyes wide with wonder, … the pure essence of a child, … you’ve captured so beautifully the new life beginning / continuing its journey, …🎶 I love the music, I’m playing it now, …🎶….💙

    1. This is all about my children and grandchildren, Penn …. how quickly they’ve moved from cribs to cars …. one minute they’re crawling around and the next their 6′ tall! I’m pleased to know you enjoyed both my poem and the song. Thanks very much!

      1. Both go so well together, Nancy, … and when I hear people talking about children and grandchildren, I suddenly realise what I’ve missed out on, … and not by choice, by anothers decision,… oh well, … now I’m trying to grasp crawling around then 6 feet tall, …now that’s a magic moment!! 😉. …💙
