“How was jury duty, Stan?”

“It was fine, Gerri, but very long. I’m beat!”

“They must give you some breaks, right?

“One ten minute break mid-morning. That’s it.”

“But you must have time for lunch, right?”

“Oh yeah, but just an hour and there’s only places like McDonald’s nearby.”

“Is it an interesting case at least?”

“Now, Gerri. You know I’m not supposed to talk to anyone about it.”

“Not even me, your loving wife of 15 years? Who would I tell?”

“I could get in serious trouble, Gerri. Besides …. you never know; something might slip out when you’re talking to one of your girlfriends. “

“Oh, you’re already in serious trouble, Stan! Speaking of “slipping out”, would you care to explain this?”

“What’s that and why am I in trouble?”

“A receipt from Lorenzo’s Ristorante; it slipped out of your pants pocket as I was getting stuff ready for the dry cleaners. What’s wrong, Stan? You don’t look so good.”

“Lemme see that!”

“Sure, Stan, and maybe you can explain how you could possibly be having lunch at Lorenzo’s in Stamford yesterday when you were supposedly at jury duty in White Plains. It’s right here in black & white.”

“Well, there’s gotta be some explanation.”

“Of course there is  …. you’re a lying liar!”

“Now Gerri, lemme explain!”

    1. He’s such a liar; he wasn’t even on jury duty. If someone wants to cheat on their partner, using jury duty as an excuse is infallible. There’s no way to check. Saving that receipt came back to bite him in the ass.

      The case I was on lasted 3 days and we were given an hour+ for lunch each day outside the courthouse.

  5. Sigh… They can get away with it until they cannot. He’s a PoS. I have no patience for these cheating liars.

    However, your story was great. I was waiting for the big reveal, knowing she knew what she knew!

    1. Cara mia, I love how you get so invested in the characters of my stories. It shows how much you care when you start cursing them out! 😂

      No big reveal; y’all knew it would just be a bunch of lies until she finally got the truth out of him.
