Our gracious host Rochelle invites us to
Friday Fictioneers where we are encouraged
to respond to the photo prompt below by
writing a story or poem in 100 words or less.
This is Friday Fictioneers and here is my story.

Giselle had never been this happy.
Henry carried her over the threshold; laughing and kissing, they stumbled onto the floor, a cloud of French lace.
“Welcome home, Mrs. Banks.” Henry kissed his bride. “Come! Let me show you the place.” And holding hands, they ran up the stairs.
Henry threw open the bedroom door; Giselle gasped.
“Is this some kind of sick joke, Henry?”
“What do you mean?” he responded, ever obtuse.
“This! You’ve created a shrine to Lily.”
“She was my wife, Giselle.”
“Now I am, Henry! Choose …. a ghost or me.”
She stormed off before he could answer.

Dear Nancy,
Oy…he needs a reality check. I can’t blame Giselle for her reaction. Well done.

Oh Henry, no. You can have your feelings but you need to think of your wife’s too.

I think Giselle needs to run far and fast. Great story and song that tie in so well with the photo, Nancy. Well done!

Thanks, Brenda! In truth, I chose the song for this one before I wrote a single word.
You’re right about Giselle needing to get out of there; Henry is sneaky and doesn’t care about hurting her feelings.

Oh no. Very tactless Mr Banks. You should have chosen a different bedroom to share with your bride.

Right! Or put that shrine in his closet!
Thanks, Di!

Very few women are that open minded!
Grazie, cara mia!

There is open-minded and there is this foolishness. A photo here and there, items she loved. But to create a shrine? Nope.

That she did, dear Ivor. Still, there no need to rub her face in it. I suggest Henry build his shrine in his closet!
It really is a great song; I knew before I wrote a single word I would be using this song and the woman in the photos would be named Lily.
