What? Me Worry?

Written for Thursday Inspiration #284 –
“Let’s Live For Today
. Here’s my 2¢ worth.

For this week’s Thursday Inspiration, Jim Adams asks the question “do people find worries or do worries find people?”

Well, I’m certainly no psychologist or great thinker but it seems to me if we worry overmuch about everything in life, we will be dragged down into a place that’s so low and deep, we will never be able to climb out. That doesn’t mean we should walk around like a Pollyanna or a Cockeyed Optimist with our heads in the clouds, either. We need to find a happy medium and one way we might be able to reach that level is by listening to music.

I’m a big believer in the power of music; I think there’s a song for everything that ails us. Music brings back memories and gives us hope for the future. It makes us laugh and sometimes makes us cry. Music helps us relax and fall sleep or it energizes us on our daily walks and keeps us company, making those boring chores much easier. And, of course, music makes us feel like dancing … fast or slow, it doesn’t matter. Music gets the blood pumping and the body moving … and you don’t need a prescription!

Two songs immediately came to mind as I read Jim’s Thursday Inspiration; I hope they bring some rays of happiness into your day.

This is “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin

This is “Happy” by Pharrell Williams

Big thanks Jim Adams for this inspiration. Thanks to you all for stopping by for a look and a listen.

That’s all she wrote. See you on the flip side. 😎

  1. As an engineering student from Nepal, I totally agree—music is the perfect escape from worries. It lifts us up, brings hope, and keeps us moving. Thanks for the great reminder and these feel-good songs!

  2. Oh … so … true! I’m a big believer in music as therapy. In the past, when working with wounded children, music played a significant role. Personally, I couldn’t live without music. I love your post, Nancy, and the happy videos. Pharrell’s song especially makes me smile! 🙂

  3. Two wonderful feelgood songs, different in their own way, but they both appealed to me, Nancy … meanwhile, down here in Aussieland, back in the 70’s we had Richard Clapton’s feelgood summer song, ‘Capricorn Dancer’ …

  4. As I was considering how to respond to Jim’s prompt — before I settled on “worry” I had thought about writing about someone who found happiness and thought about both of these songs. How can you be unhappy listening to these two songs? Impossible!
