Our gracious host, Rochelle, at Friday Fictioneers
asks us to use the photo below as inspiration
to write creatively in 100 words or less while
making every word count. This is my flash.

“It’s an alien substation” Mark explained to his girlfriend Nora.
“It is not! You have no idea what you’re talking about!” Nora chided.
“You know, Nora, you really shouldn’t be so skeptical; aliens are very perceptive and they pick up on negativity like yours.”
“You and your stupid aliens! That’s all you ever talk about! I’m so sick of it. One of these days, Mark…..”
And before she could finish her sentence, a giant tentacle emerged from the water, waved a greeting at Mark, grabbed Nora around the neck, and dragged her into the water.
“Told you!” Mark sighed.

Hello, I reallu liked your story here – and felt like I know folks who bicker (or banter) like that and then the tentacle showing up was really fun (and sci fi) and the styx song was also fun (that was the song they played at my husband’s senior year prom)

Thanks for a great comment, Yvette, and for sharing that fun fact about your husband’s senior prom.

funny how some songs we just have a memory with – but I do not know the songs featured at the proms I went to…

Finally! Don’t worry about Nora. She’s sleeping with the fishes, like Luca Brasi.
