Written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing
Prompt #415 using the word ‘confide’
in exactly 96 words; also Fandango’s
Story Starter #198 and for Gerry & Sue’s
Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge –
‘cavalier’. This is my 96-word story.

Sharon reluctantly realized that the only way to salvage her relationship with Arthur would be to….
confide in him.
“Richard was here.”
“Richard’s always here, Sharon; he’s your roommate Cathy’s boyfriend! Why would I care?”
“Because he wasn’t with Cathy; he was with me.”
“Oh. So we’re breaking up, Sharon?”
“Well, yes, but do you have to be so damn cavalier about it!”
“It’s not like we were exclusive, Sharon.”
“But you don’t seem bothered at all!”
“I’m not! Cathy and I have been lovers for months!”
“Wow! What a dick!”
“Hahaha! That’s what Cathy said!”

I don’t know why this was one of my favorite songs as a kid, actually I just loved Neil Sedaka, I think I had an 8-track, played it constantly!

How funny is that?! I don’t know if you like to sing but it’s great fun singing along to this song. Maybe that was the attraction. Thanks for sharing your memories, Tiffany! 🎶♡

Richard was describing a character trait and Cathy was talking about a body part.
