Flash, Very Short Story

Losing It

Our gracious host, Rochelle, at Friday Fictioneers
asks us to use the photo below as inspiration

to write creatively in 100 words or less while
making every word count. This is my flash.

Lila was a sweet, smart seven-year-old with a heart as big as her imagination. She loved painting rainbows and playing dress-up, but sometimes, when things didn’t go her way, her temper erupted like a volcano.

One sunny afternoon while building a castle out of blocks, her little brother Stewie accidentally knocked it down. Lila’s face turned red and she felt the heat rise inside her. But instead of exploding, she took a deep breath, counted to five, and transformed her anger into calm.

Then Stewie kicked her blocks and started laughing; Lila lost it.

Stewie really should have known better!

    1. Thank you, Rochelle.

If my sister were writing this, she’d say I was the troublemaker, the instigator …. and she’d be right!

That video was a lucky find; it’s a good one! So pleased to know you enjoyed the music and the story. Thanks so much!

  1. Brothers will always do the necessary to push all the buttons they can, won’t they? He saw she controlled herself the first time so he had to make sure she blew… Excellent, Nancy!

    1. And blow she did! Stewie got exactly what he deserved (the little turd!) and I can’t blame Lila; Lord knows, she tried her best.

Hopefully Hydro Quebec is doing its thing tonight. Who needs that nonsense?!

Good weekend wishes, my sistah!! ♡

  2. You gave us a nice bit of an erupted ending with the way he did it again and Lila erupted that time – that was a nice twist because I thought it was going to end with our Lila staying calm. well done

and I knew that Buffet song from years ago (hearing it out and about) and NEVER knew is was about a volcano
