Our gracious host, Rochelle, at Friday Fictioneers
asks us to use the photo below as inspiration
to write creatively in 100 words or less while
making every word count. This is my flash.

“Frankie, com’ere. I got a thing.”
“Yeah, sure, Vinny. What kinda thing?”
“It’s in my car. Go on …. take a look.”
“Holy shit, Vinny! You offed Joey Mezzacapo’s brother?”
“Yeah. SOB was sticking his nose where it don’t belong. Now he ain’t got no nose.”
“Boss know about this, Vinny?”
“No. And he ain’t gonna know. Ain’t that right, Frankie?”
“Sure, Vin. I don’t know nothin’. But .… there could be trouble.”
“Maybe. But they gotta find him first!”
“Like I said, Vin. I don’t know nothin.”
“That’s good, Frankie. Now let’s go; this body ain’t gonna bury itself.”

The musical accompaniments I choose are just as important as my words. Thanks, Gerry.

Dear Nancy,
I never saw the Sopranos, but have seen plenty of Mafioso movies and programs. Let’s just say you wrote a story I couldn’t refuse. Well done.

Growing up with people who talked like this has helped me greatly when writing this type of story. The Sopranos is excellent entertainment, Lisa.

Excellent take! And I can hear the theme song from the Soprano’s now ringing in my ears. Maybe it’s time for another binge.

Thanks, Gabi! This was fun; I channeled my late godfather’s mannerisms …. and by godfather, I mean that in the literal sense! 🕶️

This’d never happen in my neck of the woods. Not without a few Uffda and ya-you-betchas. 😂 Great sense of unique voice!

No ya-you-betchas in New Jersey! 😂 If there’s woods, there’s probably a body buried. Just saying. Thanks very much, Liz!

Just tried it on my laptop! Added a block after the desired beginning excerpt, then typed “/” to bring up the dropdown for commands, typed to find the “More” command, and saved. Thank you for sharing the magic spell!

Can also just create a new block (hit enter at desired spot) and type in “/more” and then remember to save the update. Yippee Skippy!

That ain’t no everyday thing, tell you what. Vinny and Frankie best be particularly successful at making Joey’s brother disappear. Coz we know these things get found out on the usual.
Excellent dialogue-driven story, amica cara.

Dead bodies don’t bury themselves because they lack the necessary biological functions, including muscle movement and consciousness, required to dig a hole in the ground.

No arguing that logic, Jim! Somehow, I don’t think Vinny and Frankie care about that shit.

I wasn’t expecting that! You’ve used the dialogue so well to move the story forward and draw out the characters, Nancy.
