WordPress asks: What is your favorite candy?

It didn’t take me long to answer that question. My favorite candy happens to be the 2nd most popular candy in the world; it’s Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Whoever had the idea of combining peanut butter and chocolate is, IMHO, a god.
There are a lot of legendary combos ….. burger & fries, fish & chips, gin & tonic, mac & cheese, bacon & eggs, cats & dogs, Laurel & Hardy, Bogie & Bacall ….. and they’re all great, but nothing comes close to the deliciousness of a peanut butter cup. In fact, they’re so scrumptious, if I’m deprived of my sweet fix, I start looking like this…..

….. which is why I keep my pantry stocked and my stash nearby.
I know some people who do not have a very sophisticated and discriminating peanut butter cup palate; they take random bites out of their PBC without giving it much thought or, in the case of the minis, pop a few into their mouth. That’s fine but not my style. For me, eating a Reese’s PBC is a ritual, a religious experience.
First I slide that little jewel out of its wrapper and take a whiff of the chocolatey/peanutty goodness. Ambrosia! Next, I nibble my way around the entire perimeter of the PBC, which is all solid chocolate. With the outer edge gone, the peanut butter starts peeking through; its salty, nutty aroma is tantalizing. Now comes the best part. I take small bites of the cup, my front teeth breaking through a layer of chocolate and sinking into creamy peanut butter. I savor each bite of sweet and salty decadence, letting it melt in my mouth.
It’s my wish to make every moment last as long as possible. I’m not gobbling up these babies; Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are perfection and should be treated with respect. When the cup is gone there’s still the remaining chocolatey fingertips that need a good licking. I do believe it’s against the law in the 48 contiguous United States to wipe any chocolate off your fingertips.
Reese’s is so popular, there are peanut butter cups in different shapes for the holidays: Christmas trees and Santas, Halloween pumpkins, Easter eggs, Valentine’s Day hearts. There are different sizes including the original, jumbo cup and minis. There’s a white chocolate version which is insane! Some have caramel, crunchy pb or chopped up Reese’s pieces inside and there’s one called “chocolate lava” with creamy chocolate in the center. There are even Reese’s Sticks which are a lot like a KitKat. That’s all fine and dandy but I’m very happy with the original. Even if I should choose to eat a tree or a heart, my ritual doesn’t change one bit. And I never eat them straight out of the fridge; taking the time to bring them to room temp enhances the flavor tenfold.
As fabulous as a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup is, there’s something just a tad better ….. my homemade peanut butter cups which are nothing short of orgasmic. No way you can you possibly go wrong with five delicious ingredients ….. peanut butter, butter, confectioner’s sugar, graham crackers, and chocolate. And if you think they can’t possibly taste like the real thing, think again! Make a batch yourself and you’ll see I’m right.

Oh, in case you were wondering which candy is the #1 favorite in the world, it’s a Snickers bar which is pretty damn good, I must admit.

Try blending blue cheese with some cream cheese for your celery stick stuffing. It’s delicious! 😋

I’ve had my share of Snickers and they’ll def do nicely in a pinch. 😎😛
Homemade PBCs are amazing AND you can add as much pb as you want! My DIL made them for one of our Christmas desserts; they were mind-blowing! 🤯 👅
