Written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt #401
using the word “quagmire” and Eugi’s Moonwashed
Weekly Prompt with the required word “drizzly”.
In exactly 63 words, this is my story.

Fog rolls in this drizzly winter morn. No trill of bird, no rustle of leaves – only a chill, stillness in the gray air. A mist embraces the shore, almost obscuring the silhouettes of two pens and their mates enjoying a leisurely swim across the smokey quagmire, their downy cygnets too drowsy in their cozy nest to venture out. The sun begins its ascent.

Gorgeous! If I close my eyes, I can almost feel the warmth of an early summer morning…

This is wonderful, Nancy. And to add my favourite Saint-Saëns with my favourite cellist well…. Gold star!

Thanks, Eugi. It was the music and the image which formed the words in my head. It felt like it wrote itself! 🕊️

Thank you, Laura. It’s an evocative image, isn’t it? I pulled that song up on my playlist and just listened while looking at the pic and wrote what came into my mind. It was so relaxing! ☺️
