A Hand To Lend: An Ovi

Written for Ovi Poetry Challenge #83.
This week’s inspiration word is “lift”.

In the spirit of positivity, here is my Ovi.

Hey, buddy, you’re here just in time.
Tell me, friend, can you spare a dime?
Think of it as my lifeline.
Here’s something to eat.

Hey, friend, can I borrow your shoes?
I got nothing from which to choose.
Looks like you got nothing to lose.
Here’s something to wear.

Hey, mister, can you lend a hand?
I had a job but I got canned.
I’m drowning with no sight of land.
Here’s my hand, friend.

Thank you, man, for helping me.
I was blind and couldn’t see.
You gave a lift and I feel free.
Here’s to a new beginning.

  1. Wonderful progression, Nancy. Love, love this.

And I didn’t want to play the song but it’s too late. Just seeing what it was, the damn thing is playing in my head with visions of Toy Story. Thanks…
