Hey! I’m doing a new music blog which I hope
will be entertaining and give you some laughs.
It’s all about Weird Al Yankovic and I’m having
a blast with his fun music parody videos!

Let’s continue with another great parody by Weird Al. In this lampoon of Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll”,  a leather-clad Al transplants the action from a tough greaser bar to a family friendly ice cream parlor. We get some early glimpses into Al’s later video tropes, including the visual explanation for an unusual song noise (in this case, Joan Jett’s “Ow!” is revealed to be from a kid biting Al’s ankle). Be on the lookout for Al’s band in all his videos; he’s been with the same guys since the beginning and they make for some hilarious background players. And while Al may love rocky road, the ice cream used in his video is actually mashed potatoes!

    You may not have heard of LadBaby, who got the coveted UK Christmas #1 five years in a row with parodies based on sausage rolls. This was their take on the song, and the video explains why they were raising money for charity:

      1. They had to ensure it was safe enough to be played on BBC Radio, but got a little suggestive in places. But they could claim it was in your mind, not theirs, just because the sausage roll was very long 🤣

      Here’s the thing: People who don’t know about Al Yankovic’s legitimate talent will write him off as a silly buffoon, a flash-in-the-pan with a schtick. They will never see or appreciate what’s really going on here and that is their loss. There’s nothing I can do from my end except dedicate this blog to those who are Al fan’s and truly get him.
