The Raffle

When I was a kid, the Presbyterian church we attended held a couple of bazaars each year. Mom always contributed a homemade item. One year she got so busy crocheting blankets for Christmas presents, she forgot about the bazaar and, at the eleventh hour, begrudgingly donated a special blanket she’d made for a dear friend. It really was beautiful; raffle tickets were selling like crazy! When the winner was announced, it was my dad. He probably spent more on raffles than mom spent on yarn but getting that blanket back for her made his day.

    1. Two for two today! I’m on a winning streak 😂

This song was new for me, too. It was a little difficult finding a good song for this story; most songs about blankets were for children and the raffle ticket songs were all blues …. good songs IMO but not really appropriate for the husband/wife relationship here. I like this one, too. 😃

      Thanks, Clive 😊

      1. Yep, my father was that way. He was a professional violinist that played Jazz and Western swing starting when he was 12. He was also an artist. I guess I got his talent and so did both my sons. It skipped my sister but her daughter got the gene. My father helped many people when they were down on their luck..a sweet soul.
