“It is rather nice, isn’t it, Martha?”

“It’s the perfect get-away!”

“I’m pleased you like it.”

“I love it, George! And look…..there’s a fire pit!”

“It’s really quite romantic.”

“George, are you feeling alright?”

“Never better, Martha. Why do you ask?”

“Because you’re not your usual obnoxious self.“

“I assure you, dear, I’m perfectly fine.”

“Did you just call me ‘dear’? No nasty bovine wisecracks?”

“Not one, darling. It’s Christmas, you know.”

“I do! Oh, I love this, George!”

“And I love you, Martha. Merry Christmas, darling.”

“Merry Christmas, George! I love you, too.”

    I think I need to go back and watch Elf. I haven’t seen it for a while. Love the clip. One of two Will Farrell movies I actually liked, the other being Stranger than Fiction. (which I think every writer should see IMHO).

    She should enjoy this George while she can. Sigh.

      Elf is such a delightful movie, isn’t it? I don’t care much for the original version of this song where the guy is practically forcing the girl to stay; this one was much sweeter and harmless.
      Stranger Than Fiction is a movie I’ve not seen. After your comments, I think I’m going to have to correct that! Thanks!

      Yes, you’re right. I’m sure at the stroke of midnight George will turn right back into an ass! Sigh.

  3. I’m not sure that Martha finding out George can be a prince when he wants to be one is a good thing. Being an ass 364 and a prince for one, the math doesn’t add up. I was almost expecting him to call her by another name by mistake (the way he is with his mistress.) Fun holiday story, Nancy!

    1. For all his many flaws, George is faithful to Martha; I won’t be writing in any mistresses. Yes, they are a dysfunctional misanthropic couple but they really do love each other, despite all the nasty insults. Theirs is a match made in …. heaven?

      BTW I’m still unable to comment on your site; you’re not the only one. I commented on your movie post via Reader but it didn’t appear on your site! I’m making a list of all the sites where I cannot comment and will pass the info on to WP as they requested. We’ll see what happens after that. Sorry.

      1. Whatever works when it comes to lurv. You’re welcome. Very irritating to have that kind of issue. I think every blogger on WP has had issues like that. Usu Happiness Engineers fix them fairly quickly. Good luck.
