For The Birds: An Ovi

This week’s inspiration word is “cheer” –
something we can all use. This is my ovi.

Are you feeling down and out?
Do you sit around and pout?
And sometimes you just want to shout
I’ve had enough of this!

Did your candidate not win?
Did you take it on the chin
Or kick somebody in the shin?
Buck up and move on!

Is your wife two-timing you?
Did you find her lover’s shoe
And now you don’t know what to do?
That’s a bitter pill!

Did you get fired from your job
For dressing like a big fat slob?
Now all you want to do is sob
Don’t let them get you down!

Do your kids treat you like dirt?
Are they nasty, mean and curt?
Man, I know that sure can hurt
This just shouldn’t be!

When you’ve done all than you can
And it still just hits the fan
Try to be the better man
You’ll feel good about yourself!

Things don’t always go our way
No one’s hearing what we say
Fall down on our knees and pray
Send me a sign, Lord!

Here’s a pretty bird of cheer
Tweeting greetings in your ear
You are not alone, my dear
Her song will bring you joy!

      1. You’re very welcome and a pleasure to read! Not critiquing, just taking a first-person stance, wanting to join your empowering poem. 👍🏻 I’ve done the same – used man as a general term. Oh man!
