Written for d’Verse Quadrille #212 – “What the What”,
where the challenge is to write a poem in exactly 44 words
with the word “what” as inspiration. This is my quadrille.

What’s wrong
with
four letter words?
What is
your favorite?
What?
Yes, what!
What,
that’s ours, too!
All day
every way
asking
“What the
what
did you
say??
What the What??
What’s what?
You deaf
or what?
Wait! Say what??
What! I said “WHAT??”!

Nancy, your poem is such a fun and witty take on the prompt! I love how you turn “what” into a lively conversation, capturing both its humor and versatility.

Thank you, David! That is exactly what it’s like in my house. Bill and I have a lot of fun. Yes, we may be losing our hearing, our eyesight and our memory but we’re doing it together! Life is short and we’ll be gone for too long. Laugh and love with all your heart. Thank you, dear friend. ♡

Thanks, Shweta. A little joke about my hubby and I constantly yelling “WHAT?” from one end of the house to the other.
