Lucy has been missing more than 24 hours. We’ve been searching, with no luck. We’re worried for her. Lucy is not an outdoor pet; she’s a big scaredy cat out there all alone without her collar. She’s lost, frightened and obviously unable to find her way back to us. Asking for your good vibes that she return home safely. 😞 🐈⬛
Thank you!
Nancy

Look at the houses nearby, in any sort of protected areas like under staircases, crawl spaces etc. We had a cat escape and he didn’t get far. put up signs around the neighborhood. Good luck, and I hope Lucy comes home soon. Is she microchipped?

She’s home, John …. about an hour ago. I’ll update soon. And yes, she is microchipped. Thanks for your good advice.

Thanks Cindy. Signs are up, her blanket and food are outside and we’re going out again for another check of the neighborhood. Doing all we can. 💔

If your cat eats dry cat food, try walking around outside shaking her food bag. That has worked for us when our cats have gotten outside. The sound of dry cat food rattling around in a cat food bag is an instant message to come home. Good luck.

It looks like she’s wearing a collar, so at least no one will mistake her for a stray. Praying that she’ll be home soon.♥️

Yes …. in that pic. Unfortunately, she wasn’t wearing her collar yesterday. Thanks, Blue. 💙

Thanks, Destiny. I keep thinking of her being scared and disoriented. The weather is good, thank God, so we have that in our favor. Going out to look for her again. 🩶

Thank you, Sadje. We hope so, too. Thankfully, the weather is good and it’s a quiet day. We will walk around the neighborhood again for another look and to hang posters with Lucy’s pic. 🙏🏼

Usually, the tip of a cat’s ear is removed in a procedure called ear-tipping to indicate that the cat has been spayed or neutered and vaccinated, but it looks like you didn’t have that done for Lucy.

Actually, we had all that done, Jim, and Lucy also has an ID chip. To be honest, I never heard of ear-tipping as none of our cats ever had that procedure done and they were all spayed or neutered and fully vaccinated. We’ve had cats living with us throughout our 52 years of marriage and never once heard of ear-tipping.

It is a common practice to identify your cat as not being feral.

Since I was not familiar with this practice, I Googled it and found this: Ear-tipping is only done for feral cats, barn cats, or outside community cats.
None of our cats, including Lucy, were feral, barn cats or outside cats; there would be no reason for ear-tipping.

Since Lucy has escaped, if someone sees her running around free outside, they may assume that she is feral.

Possibly. Just one more thing to think about in this unhappy situation.

One thing you can do is put her bowl and her toys outside of your house, as she only knows what it looks like from the inside, but she will recognize her familiar scents and she will know that she is back home after her adventure.
