Welcome to Birthday Thursdays! Each week I will feature someone from the world of music whose birthday falls on this day. There won’t be any chit chat from me, no facts and figures – just some great tunes (and an occasional surprise). Check it out right here every Thursday and enjoy the music.

What a wonderful voice. When I was DJing weddings, people would still ask for Could I Have This Dance.

When I came home from school I sometimes would find my mother crying to one of two songs: Anne Murray – You Needed Me or Streisand and Diamond ‘You Don’t Bring Me Flowers’.

You Needed Me is definitely one of those songs …. heartfelt and swelling with emotion. Thanks, Matt.

Happy Birthday to Anne! 🎉 Like Gordon Lightfoot, she didn’t need to move to the U.S. to attain international stardom. Such a beautiful voice! 💖

Absolutely! I prefer the lower range in women’s voices. Anne Murray has a smooth delicious voice like melted butter.

We have similar tastes in vocals. 🙂 I also love male baritones.

Welcome to the music blogging portion of my site, Selma. I have cut back significantly during the summer to work on my writing but still post the birthday blogs; they are easy and a nice diversion. I’m thrilled to know you enjoyed the lovely sounds of Anne Murray today!
