I don’t really know much about Etta but boy, could she sing! I knew I’d Rather Go Blind from the UK hit version by Chicken Shack, with a young Christine Perfect (later McVie) on vocals. I’ve always liked it, but this version is far better. Rod Stewart did it too, but he was a long way behind the others.

There are some performers who simply cannot be touched. Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ella, Billie Holiday and Etta are the top five for me. They are pure gold and simply can’t be improved upon, IMO. 💫
I’m glad you enjoyed listening to Etta today, Clive; as I told Jim, that’s really nice to hear and the only reason I do these posts is to bring a little joy into peoples lives. I appreciate your thoughts.

I wasn’t really a fan of them, not my kind of music but I can appreciate how good they were at what they did. I enjoyed these songs, though, so maybe there’s hope for me yet 😊

LOVE me some Etta James. I saw her in 1995 at the Montreal Jazz Fest. She was amazing. And, of course, my hubs and I danced to At Last at our wedding. Love, love, love her.

Yes! It was the first concert I went to with my new boyfriend, who would later become father of my kids and husband of me 😉 Way back on July7, 1995 (we met on June 25, 1995) 🙂
