BLEEDING ON MY PAGE

Baby animals are cuteSo are knitted booties, toothless grins.

My engagement ring definitely wasn’t cuteeven though my mother declared it so 53 years ago; neither are the stories I write and frequently bleed on.

I have issues with “cute”; you’re going to give me a complex by commenting with that word.

We wouldn’t want that, would we?

I might have to disassociate, sever ties, and that would be a bloody shame.

    1. They learn young, don’t they? Your granddaughter’s not wrong, D. She’s 11 now; the cute days are behind her! Anything 3 yr old Colette does is cute and I could gobble her up but 15 yr old Mckenna is well beyond that!
The word has it’s place and I know people don’t mean any harm, but for me it’s a condescending throw-away word with very little value; I can almost visualize the smug lip curl when the word is said. 😏
      Rant over 😂

  1. When I was doing my clinical residence, seems like a life time ago, there was a nurse who observed me having a bit of trouble removing a surgical adhesive band; tried slowly but the patient, male, was in pain.
She approached and said: May I? Then started talking about those blue eyes of the patient… when suddenly she ripped off the band… patient didn’t have time to react, except being surprised.
Later, as me and her sat together outside the hospital waiting for the bus she said to me: ” My sweet Nick, instead of prolonging the pain little by little, it is best to have more pain but for a short time and then you’re free”. I never forgot her words.
