Welcome to Birthday Thursdays here in The Rhythm Section. Each week I will feature someone from the world of music whose birthday falls on that day. There wonβt be any chit chat from me, no facts and figures β just some great tunes (and an occasional surprise). Check it out right here every Thursday and enjoy the music.
Happy Birthday to Leonard Cohen
Born September 21, 1934 in Westmount, Quebec, Canada

Good to know! π I love his music and enjoy playing his song, Hallelujah on my clarinet. πΆ

I’ve always been a huge fan. I regularly dip into a video of the I’m Your Man concert when the world’s top stars put their own spin on his amazing pieces. Musician, poet, genius.

Some of those tribute concerts are so enjoyable, especially when honoring someone like the great Leonard Cohen. I have one tribute concert on my DVR which I will never erase β the Concert for George. It’s an incredible assembly of musical stars performing some of George Harrison’s greatest songs. My favorite is this touching finale. I’m not at all embarrassed to admit it brings tears to my eyes.
