My husband’s birthday is coming up soon.
He always says not to buy anything but I do and a card, too.
Have you checked out the prices of cards lately?
A Hallmark can cost as much as $8.00 or $9.00.
It’s paper, for crying out loud!
There’s no music or pop-ups – just a simple, do nothing card.
What a scam!
But he’s worth it.

I have noticed the price of cards going up and up! I am cheap, I refuse to buy hallmark cards, I buy nice cards, but they are not expensive, I get them in a store 3 for 3 euro. X

Good shopping, CA! Mine come from Amazon; it takes a little while to find really good cards, but it’s worth the time. Some cards are just stupid expensive!

Good observation, Nancy! Now people prefer digital cards. So rising cost may compensate lower sales volume.

I think people everywhere are fed up with ridiculously high prices. It’s outrageous how much we spend in the grocery store and only come home with two bags of items.

You’re right, Nancy, we all are suffering from the pangs of inflation.

That is one brilliant video clip!
I make my own cards and have done for years now as I got fed up with naff cards and nice verses, or nice cards with naff verses. I get a lot of pleasure making them and those I end them too seem to like them.

How I wish I could be crafty but I can’t even draw or cut a crooked line!

I buy blank cards and ‘toppers’ then add pretty paper or stickers. Just about to do a post on today’s efforts

I’m tempted to say “I haven’t got the time” but I’m reminded of my old organ teacher who would respond to that excuse with “You have all there is!”

I’d make my own…

If I were crafty, I would. Alas, my creations are hideous. I should stick to gardening and cooking!

I’d just use crayons and construction paper, like we used in school.

Let’s remember, though, that we’re paying for someone’s art & creativity (I don’t know what their actual cut of profits is).
I’ve switched over to “art cards” in box collections, and write my own message, though.
Because it’s still fun to get a beautiful thing through the mail. 😊

Absolutely! This is all very true, Liz. I have a box with dividers to store my greeting cards. It’s something I enjoy doing. The day after Thanksgiving is my traditional day to start writing out my Christmas cards; while other people are out being trampled while shopping on Black Friday, I’m home sipping my coffee, turkey soup simmering on the stove as I start addressing my cards. It’s one of my favorite days of the year. Thanks for your comment, Liz.

I buy my cards from Dollar Tree.

That’s a great idea, Betty!
My husband buys his at the post office and mails them while he’s there. That’s just too logical for my Pisces brain. 😂

Hmm. A card? Or lunch?

I am boycotting McDonald’s! There’s an idea for a story 😂

Good choice! There is not one single healthy thing on the menu. I said that to my granddaughter and she informed me they have apples, even though they are sliced, doused, and hermetically sealed. Why not just put an apple in a meal?

Ridiculous! No salads and everything is fried. They did away with their yummy chicken wraps and you can’t even get a decent cup of coffee. Stupid marketing strategy on their part, I think.

I used to know when I was out of town, in a pinch they had salads, and they used to have an egg white and whole grain breakfast sandwich. They couldn’t stand anything that even waved at healthy.

9$… you must be able to get a half-decent curry for that. It’s a tough one 🤣.

At least at Dunkin you can get a delicious iced coffee without breaking the bank.

I think your washing machine just went off.

Oh, that’s a definite!!
Try the disposable ice packs, too. No refrigeration needed; just smack one on a hard surface to smash the little crystals inside and activate the icing process. They’re brilliant!

Your pharmacy should have them. Instant use cold pack is how to describe them.

Wow that really is expensive, here in the UK I have never seen a plain card for more than a fiver, they’re usually around £2/£3 for Hallmark ones but there are plenty of others that are cheaper.
