“Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David and recorded by B.J. Thomas for the 1969 film “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.
Based loosely on fact, the film tells the story of Wild West outlaws “Butch Cassidy” (Paul Newman) and his partner, the “Sundance Kid” (Robert Redford). The duo are on the run from a US posse after a string of train robberies. The pair, along with Sundance’s lover, Etta Place (played by Katharine Ross), flee to Bolivia to escape the posse.
Here’s the lilting and uplifting voice of B. J. Thomas singing “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head”:
Robert Redford and Paul Newman made a great team; their good looks and charismatic personalities were perfect for these types of “partners-in-crime” movies.
Here’s your question of the day:
What other wonderfully entertaining movie with exceptional music, including Scott Joplin’s ragtime compositions, costarred Paul Newman and Robert Redford as two card-playing grifters?
The answer is given on the bottom of the page.
Nick is back tomorrow Breaking Boundaries; something tells me it’s going to be an exceptional post. Don’t forget to stop by and check it out.
That’s a wrap, kids. Join me next week for another installment of At The Movies.
See you on the flip side.

And the answer to today’s question is ….. The Sting.
Excellent tune.

Here’s the thing. I thought Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head was in Singin’ In The Rain. So, I got it wrong. I also called my movie Dancin’ In The Rain, so I was totally wrong. I’m normally quite good with movies… obviously, not all the time! 🤣

Think of it as a learning process, Tom. You’ll have another chance next week! I hope you’re having fun.
That was a good guess and if you listen to the two tunes, you’ll see there are definite similarities.
Thanks for your input; always interested in what you have to say.

Having fun: definitely! 😀
I still make myself laugh with what I think the answers should be! 🤣

Well that’s all that matters, then; as long as we can laugh and have fun even when we don’t know every answer. Who does? Surely not me!

Been there. Replied. Got all pedantic over a typo. And then poured myself another cup of coffee.

Oops on my part! The one that got away; glad you (and Nick) caught it!
My sister usually texts me with my typos but I haven’t heard from her on that topic lately; maybe she’s stopped following me!
And I don’t mind you being pedantic at all. ☕️

Paul and Robert (Bob for his friends) are such an formidable, iconic, cinematographic pair… and they only did those two movies together.
At an interview Paul Newman gave, there was mention of a memo in 20th Century Fox about Redford that he was just another Californian blonde…throw a surfboard at Malibu beach and you will hit twenty of them…How wrong were they, came Paul’s comment.
They were also very good friends, with an “eccentric” taste of practical jokes.
Robert send a Porche for Paul’s birthday… except that it was totaled as it had hit a tree sideways with 100 mph…there it was at his driveway with a big bow around it!😆
What did Paul do?
He had the car compacted, contacted the real estate agent of the house Bob was renting, bypassed the alarm and had that big chunk of Porshe-metal placed in Redford’s house🤣
Paul said that Bob eventually won that, as he never even mentioned anything about it…despite answering the ” casual” phone call Newman gave him the next day!
Nostalgic piece, Nancy…at its finest!

What interesting anecdotes about Paul and Rob. You probably didn’t notice this, Nick, but I certainly did: they were also very easy on the eyes! 😂
