Inconvenient Truth

Written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt
where she asks us to get creative in exactly
46 words using the prompt word ‘rapacious’.
Also for Gerry and Sue’s Weekly Prompts
Weekend Challenge
– ‘collapsible’.
Here’s where the prompts took me.

They arrive rapacious, pockets wide, principles narrow, promising the moon on collapsible platforms that fold the moment inconvenient truths apply pressure.

They shake hands. They smile. They study polling data the way priests study scripture: looking for tacit permission to do exactly what they wanted anyway.

  1. I think these challenges were tricky ones. I didn’t bother attempting our Collapsible challenge even though I’d known about it for weeks. You did well to find a use for both, Nancy.
