Written for RDP, where sgeoil asks us
to get creative with the word “buzzard”.
Thanks, Heather! Here’s where the prompt took me.

Tucky Buzzard was a British hard rock band active from 1969 to 1974, formed by former members of the psych-pop group The End. Notably produced by Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman, the band released five albums blending hard rock, blues-rock, and prog-rock influences. Key members included Jimmy Henderson (vocals), Terry Taylor (guitar), and David Brown (bass). Despite being considered a “footnote” in rock history, they were recognized for quality, heavy blues-rock material. Terry Taylor later worked with Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings. In 2006 Tucky Buzzard was featured in an article called “Top 6 Classic Rock Bands You Never Knew You Didn’t Know”.
Bill reminded me that we saw Tucky Buzzard at Madison Square Garden with Savoy Brown and Deep Purple but I do not remember them as part of that historic event! He’s rifling through old ticket stubs as of this writing.

Never heard of them. They sound like loads of other bands, so I guess they didn’t stand out enough.

You’re probably right; I was surprised to read they recorded 5 albums!

They were around at the time I was getting more into albums and reading the more grown up weekly music papers, and I don’t recall any mention of them. That five album count surprises me too – talk about going under the radar!
