Weekend Challenge using the word ‘enamored’.
Here’s where the prompt took me.

Cassandra watched the ships from her lighthouse perch, but only searched for one: Captain Rodrigo’s vessel with its crimson sails. Each evening, she’d abandon her post when she spotted it, running to the shore to catch a glimpse of him …. her passion.
On the night of the storm, the red sails appeared early. Cassandra flew down the stairs, her heart racing, neglecting to light the beacon. She stood on the beach, salt spray stinging her face, calling his name into the wind.
But it wasn’t Rodrigo’s ship …. just a merchant vessel with wine-dark canvas.
Behind her, the lighthouse remained dark; unknown to Cassandra, Rodrigo’s ship was approaching from the east. The captains of both crafts saw no warning lights, no sign of each other, and their ships crashed, shattering against the unforgiving rocks.
They found Cassandra at dawn clutching scraps of crimson cloth, her poor enamored heart broken by the cost of her obsession.
