Written for Sadje’s “What Do You See” #322.
Here’s where the two photo prompts took me.

We stand in the doorways of life,
one hand still holding yesterday,
one foot already gone.
The places we leave grow quiet, smaller,
softer in our minds.

But the shore keeps going.
Each wave washes the sand clean.
Every tide brings something new.
When we finally let the door close,
the whole world opens up.

Very lovely sis! I particularly love “The places we leave grow quiet, smaller,
softer in our minds.”

I’m so glad you liked that line, D. I edited that one several times before I was satisfied. Thanks so much.

I knew from the one word title I was going to love this- and it did not disappoint. Awesome writing Nancy!

Thanks so much, Jodi. I’m glad you saw Verse 2; I was concerned about placing it after the second photo.

To be standing on the threshold, …described beautifully Nancy, …two journeys, both poetic descriptions are so apt, … warm wishes to you, from a (brrrr) cold day, …💙🤗

Thanks so much, Sue. I was worried the second verse. I have gone unnoticed. I’m very pleased to know it wasn’t.

Oh, I see doorways,
stairways,
and causeways
These days
I’m living in a hazy daze
or am I wandering in a maze
of poetic cliches
and unfinished essays …

Thank you, dear Sadje. I was a little concerned about my photo placement, that my readers would not readily see the second verse. I’m glad to know you did. Thank you for the inspiration.
