Thresholds

We stand in the doorways of life,
one hand still holding yesterday,
one foot already gone.
The places we leave grow quiet, smaller,

But the shore keeps going.
Each wave washes the sand clean.
Every tide brings something new.
When we finally let the door close,
the whole world opens up.

  1. Each wave washes the sand clean, every tide brings something new – ain’t that true! Delightful, Nancy.

Keane is our our local band! Their hit Soveriegn Light Cafe was based on the coffee shack of the same name on the seafront at the end of my road!
