get creative with the words ‘adventure’.
Thanks, Martha! Here’s my take.

When I was a kid growing up in The Bronx, we would sometimes walk up two blocks to a place called Post Arrow. It was a very casual family eatery where we could get ice cream, hamburgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches, including my father’s favorite pastrami on rye with mustard. This was a real adventure for us; my mother was an excellent cook of our traditional Italian food but every so often, we looked forward to something totally different. I especially loved going to the Post Arrow because there were rides, including a roller coaster, boats, cars, a carousel and arcade games. It’s hard to believe a small amusement area like that existed in the 1950s Bronx, NY just two blocks from my house! It sure was a great fun place to go for an afternoon adventure.

What a great memory. Down the road to bliss! Fun stuff. We always want something that we cannot have at home 🙂

Down the road to bliss! You are absolutely right, my friend, and what a wonderful way to put it. My mom cooked Italian. Period. Pastrami on rye was not her forte. Thanks for your wonderful comments. ❤️

Of course she didn’t. I don’t know too many Italian mammas who cook anything BUT Italian! 😉

Somehow Veal Saltimboca on rye doesn’t have the same ring to it! 😂

No. It definitely does not.

I went to New York for a week in April of 2019 … haha. it was definitely a “BIG” Apple … I got lost a few times, but the friendly locals were very kind, and showed me the way back to my hotel …
Enjoy, two of my favourite Irish singers, Glen Hansard and Lisa O’Neill

It’s not hard to love this song, Christian. How many times did we see Tony Bennett come out on stage to sing with Billy? What a great song. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Nice job, and I love the haircuts every boy wore then!
We just went to the lake. It was a good adventure, and there was a little place called Bud & Dolly’s where we got French fries and hamburgers. No amusement park, but a great rock pile out just over our heads.

When you’re a kid, sometimes fries and a rock are all you need to make it a great day. Thanks, my dear friend.

Lovely memories, Nancy and all I ever did was go to Jones Beach, Coney Island and Palisades Park.

Those are great memories to have, Jim. We went to all those places too, but there was something really special about the Post Arrow. Thanks for sharing your memories.

I love the photo. Reminds me of walking around my Italian grandparent’s place in Newark NJ. Great old neighborhood.

I knew from the first day I exchanged comments with you that you had some Italian blood in you! 😂 Isn’t that a great photo? It’s so nice to have groups like this on Facebook where you can share or find photos like this. There’s nothing like the old neighborhood! Thanks, Lois
