Written for RDP where Martha asks
“What’s one of your greatest achievements?”
Here’s my response. Thanks, Martha!

Just like other people, I have my achievements.
My greatest achievement is something I never could
have realized on my own: a happy and loving marriage
of almost 54 years, wonderful children and grandkids.
Without them, my life would be sorely lacking.

You two are so blessed. I know you don’t take any of those blessings for granted, either! ❤️❤️

You know, Lisa, we look around at our group of friends who were all married around the same time and only two other couples are still together. I find that shocking. Thank you for a lovely comment; we know how blessed we are and we are thankful for every day.

And I don’t mean this in a bad way, But I know you have both worked hard to make your marriage last these 54 years and beyond. And that is a beautiful thing, too

There’s absolutely nothing mean in what you wrote, Lisa. No marriage is magical; it doesn’t just blossom and grow on its own. If we want a happy, strong, and loving marriage, we have to work at it … just like every good thing in life.

I love that quote because it’s so accurate and real. Solid, happy and good loving marriages don’t happen by magic; they are something you cultivate on a daily basis. Anything worth having is worth working for. Thanks for a lovely message, my dear friend. 🥰

That is a wonderful achievement indeed. I look at my two sisters and their marriages – 30 (next October) and 35 (last May) and it’s just a beautiful thing

You know, we look around at our friends who were married at the same time we were and none of them are together. We definitely know how lucky we are.

Because our greatest achievements are best when they’re truly all of ours! ❤️
