Today at RDP, Martha Kennedy asks us
to get creative with the word ‘absurd’.
Thanks, Martha! Here’s were my mind went.

Drive-Thru Fiasco
The burger I ordered was as big as my face
Fries glowing like they came from outer space
My Coke arrived in a bucket-sized cup
I shook my head saying “Hey, what’s up?”
It’s utterly absurd, this fast food charade
Where portion control has totally strayed
But I’ll be back tomorrow, on that you can bet
I haven’t identified the ‘secret sauce’ yet!

Here, in every change of size you have to add payment. If that happens here, alot will bring it home. A complete meal til evening hahaha

This poem is a perfect anti-homage to fast food, which I try to avoid at (almost) all costs. I will admit Mrs. B and I do indulge in Chick-fil-A on occasion…the one vice on the menu. That song is quite unhealthy, but perfect for the post.😁

Thanks very much for your excellent comments, Bruce. The song is atrocious but you’re right about it being the perfect match for my poem. We stopped at Chick-fil-A when we were at Mohegan Sun 15 months ago for an Elvis Costello/Daryl Hall concert. It was our one and only experience with the place and it was good, I must say. It was also our most recent visit to a fast food place. I’m pleased to know you enjoyed today’s post, Bruce. Thanks, again!

Many people find fast food absurd due to its increasing cost, low nutritional value, and negative environmental impact, especially when compared to healthier and more affordable options like home-cooked meals.

“Absurd” was a difficult word. I decided to go funny with it or else I’d start getting psychological and nobody wants to be reading that shit!
Thanks, cara mia!

Catchy song………. I’ll be hearing it in my head for hours 😦 LOL
Great poem Nancy. Haven’t had a Pizza Hut or KFC for years, and the last McDonalds we had was so gross, we binned it.

Thanks, Di. That song supposedly reached #2 on the UK charts when it first came out. It never made it over here.
We don’t have a Burger King, KFC or Pizza Hut near us; there’s a McDonalds in the next town but we never go. We took Colette once while we were out and I got some kind of ice cream thing which was actually pretty good. She liked her Happy Meal! 😁

The nearest Burger King (20 miles away) closed shortly after we moved here and is now a sports store. Pizza Hut, also 20 miles away, is now McDs and the nearest KFC is 35 miles away.

I remember coming over to the States and being amazed at the portion sizes.

It’s all supersized! We don’t do fast food except for an iced cappuccino from Dunkin. If we go out, I don’t want to eat dinner in my car! 😂

Ah, this is perfect! My husband and I always talk about portions because with all the traveling we’ve been doing, with the move and all, we have experienced many different ideas of what a portion is. Many years ago I worked in a steak restaurant and on the weekend we would have a king cut prime rib, I can’t even remember how big exactly, but people would finish it, along with the side and a salad! I can’t even eat a whole steak without needing to take it home for leftovers!

Yes! I’m all for doggie bags! There’s a diner we go to occasionally; the portions are huge. I’ll eat a third of my food, bring the rest home and still have enough for two more meals! I don’t get people who don’t bring leftovers home; what a waste of money and food! Thanks, Christine,

When I lived in CT I had chickens and I would bring home every last scrap for them, well the food that wasn’t really worth saving for another meal.

Hilarious. But comedy aside, the portion sizes in America are huge.
