Today at RDP, leapingtoes asks us
to get creative with the word
‘waver’. Here’s my take.

The rain and windstorm arrived like a bat out of hell, startling Cynthia. The windows began to rattle and she realized this could go on for a while. Just as a precaution, she brought down a candle from the shelf and placed it on the table. The wind began to howl; within seconds the power in the house went out and the room turned black. Cynthia reached into her pocket for the book of matches and lit the candle but the flame began to waver. She held her breath, afraid the darkness would swallow the tiny glow entirely. Then, just as the flame seemed to give up, it steadied …. warm, stubborn, and alive.

A scary story, and don’t like being alone in the dark either, Nancy … And a classic from “the Doors” …

Any of us who have been caught in a power outage know how scary it can be, especially with a wild storm raging outside. I don’t like it and I’m sure grateful for my candles! 🕯️ Thanks very much, Michele. ☺️

Candles can be lifesavers in a storm, but I have a lot of flashlights.

Definitely. We have both; fortunately, we hardly ever need them.

Last night I had a power outage and had to cook and eat my dinner by candle light.

That sounds romantic to me …. the eating, not so much the cooking! 😍
