Today at RDP, sgeoil asks us
to get creative with the word
‘regal’. Here’s my take.

Queen Of The Asphalt Jungle
In tattered rags, she walks with grace
A regal spirit in this place
Though homeless, she holds her head high
A queen beneath the open sky
Her eyes, a window to the past
Reflecting memories that last
A crown of strength, her iron will
Her dignity, unbroken still
Through trials and storms, she stands tall
A beacon of hope for us all
In her, a regal soul shines bright
A noble spirit, pure and light

I’m delighted to enjoyed my poem, dear Ivor. 🥰 What a quirky little video that was; I think if she can handle driving into walls at top speeds, she can handle anything! Thank you, dear friend. ☺️ 🎶 🚘 🌏💛

A lovely poem, Nancy and I liked the way you illustrated regal, which is the quality primarily associated with dignity, grace, and noble bearing, rather than possessing material wealth.

Lovely comment, Jim! Thanks very much. Material wealth doesn’t impress me. The first thought that came to my mind was ‘regal bearing’ and I was reminded of a lovely black woman I see frequently when I’m out. It’s impossible to determine her age but I can tell she’s lived a hard life. She bags groceries at our local Trader Joe’s and while her clothes have seen a lot of wear and tear, I doubt velvet robes would look any better on her.

Thanks so much, Ange. The image is based on a woman I see bagging groceries at one of the stores nearby. I’m pleased to know you appreciated my post.
