Written for RDP Saturday: Explore Magic

A small child looks with eyes so wide and bright,
And asks a “Why?” to everything they see,
They seek a wonder in the fading light,
A hidden secret for their heart to be.
“Is magic real? Do fairies dance away the day?”
Their gentle voice in curious tones will plea,
“Can I find a dragon who’ll come out to play?”
“Where do the whispers of the wind then flee?”
With hopeful steps, they scan the leafy ground,
For sparkle dust or wings upon a breeze,
A secret door, a treasure to be found,
Among the flowers or the ancient trees.
Their tiny soul, a magic to unfold,
A world of wonder, brighter than pure gold.

Maybe imagination exists in that liminal space between cold fact & misty faerie? 🧚♀️🧚🧚♂️

Love your poem Nancy – pure magic 🪄we all need to keep our child eyes open to see it otherwise we loose it 💕

Beautiful! And yes, I believe in magic, and fairies, and those mischievous little leprechauns! This image reminds me of one of my favorites by John Singer Sargent: Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnation,_Lily,_Lily,_Rose

Thank you, Sis! As the song from South Pacific goes: “You gotta have a dream; If you don’t have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?” That’s a gorgeous image by John Singer Sargent which I’ve seen many times; thanks for including it.

Thanks, Jodi. I was really pleased with the way this turned out. My sons grew up watching Pete’s Dragon so there are a lot of memories here for me.

Thank you very much, Lisa. I’m so pleased to know you enjoyed my poem. I’ve been a Grammy for more than 16 years; in that time I have re-learned what it’s like to see the world through a child’s eyes. It truly is magical and I hope I always remember that.

Magic is featuring in several prompts today, and I confess it it also included in my Share Your World for Monday (scheduled a few days ago, so I’m not piggybacking!)
Love this Nancy.
