Writing Prompt #72; the photo shown below
is our prompt. Here’s where the image took me.

An elderly man ambles through the streets of the city, his cane tapping a rhythm with each step. Dressed in casual shorts, a faded shirt, and his favorite, well-worn cap, he appears to blend into the atmosphere, yet there is an unspoken isolation in his gait.
People existing in their own little worlds ignore him, unaware of him navigating his way through life. The patter of his cane is a conversation with the ground, guiding him through a landscape he cannot see.
Hearing a song by a jazz band smoothly streaming from a cabaret, he pauses for a moment; he recalls dancing cheek-to-cheek and the teasing twirl of a white sundress which he found so captivating.
The city pulses around him, a symphony of life. Though now blind, he finds beauty in the sounds and scents of the evening. With each step, he embraces the rhythm of life, a reminder that even in darkness, one can still walk with purpose.

I love the cane in conversation with the ground. Who needs the visual buzz of the busy, isolate world when one’s inner vision is so rich? 🌹🌟

An appreciation of the beauty which life affords can be found in so many ways, including seeing through the eyes of a blind man in his walk of life, as you have. Thank you for sharing your insightful writing, Nancy, a pleasurable read, indeed. 😊

Oh, it’s the blind leading the blind at the moment, I can hardly see the screen through my watery eyes, and I can just hear the music ringing in my aching ears … this interesting song by Augie March might be suitable, although I can’t read the lyrics, Nancy
