Written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt #427
using the word ‘conference’, and for Sue & Gerry’s
Weekly Prompts Colour Challenge – ‘brown’.
In exactly 59 words, this is my take.

Rebecca wanted more from life; knowing Richard would never amount to anything, she left him. Now, five years later, she’s working as a hotel cocktail waitress fending off unwanted advances from tipsy, like-minded businessmen in brown suits. And Richard? He’s a successful doctor attending a medical conference in the same hotel.
Why did life have to be so unfair?

Sometimes we take the leap and only make the edge of the cliff. Hang on it let go. Fall harder, fail better next time, yah?

Fail better. I like that!

She wasn’t to know! Never mind.
Great song choice, Nancy.

Rebecca needs to work on her social perceptiveness and get better at reading clues of how things are going to turn out.

You’re probably right, Jim. I’ll pass that on.

seriously …life’s a bitch and if you go through those revolving doors the wrong way you either put up or try again 💜💜💜💜

Totally! Here first mistake was giving up on her man. Then it all went downhill.

Was Richard laughing at her with his buds? You left us wanting more, nice

I hope not; she could use a little tea and sympathy but not to be laughed at. Thanks, Ernie.

Life wasn’t meant to easy, so said one of our silly politicians …

What a stupid thing to say, even for a politician!
This is one seriously strange little song/video.

I agree with Fandango, but at the same time, I feel sorry for her. Maybe you could write a sequel where she picks herself up and does well.
Thank you for taking part in the Brown challenge, Nancy.

Yes, very poor choices for our Rebecca; a sequel is always a possibility.
Thanks, Sue. It’s a pleasure for me.

Those “three like-minded businessmen in brown suits” look like identical triplets! I’d say Rebecca made some poor choices in her life.

The identical look was intentional as I told ChatGPT to make them all look alike. It was to signify the concept of “typical men” who all think the same way. Rebecca has made some very poor life choices which I’m sure she regrets. Hopefully her life will turn around. C’est la vie. Thanks, Fan…
