Song Lyric Sunday – Part 2

This week for Jim Adams’ Song Lyric Sunday,
the theme is “Unplugged”. The challenge?
To write about an acoustic version of a song
that was originally performed as electric.

Earlier today I participated in Jim Adams’ Song Lyric Sunday theme of “Unplugged” . I featured the great José Feliciano and his acoustic version of the Doors’ classic song “Light My Fire”. There were two other songs on my list that were strong contenders; since no one else went with them, I decided to feature them now and share them with you. These are two very popular rock songs played by their original artists in the acoustic style. Enjoy!

This is “Rockin’ In The Free World” by Neil Young.

And for my second choice, this is “Hotel California” by the Eagles.

Big thanks to Jim Adams for hosting another great Song Lyric Sunday this week and every week. Be sure to follow the link and check out Jim’s site.

Thanks for stopping by and listening to some tunes.

That’s all she wrote, kids. See you on the flip side. 😎

  1. Back in the 70’s, I was at an outdoor stadium concert with Pablo Cruz, The Steve Miller Band, and headlined by The Eagles. We all lost our minds when the heavens cracked open with heavy rain, with Jungle Love. And stopped dancing later, to watch lightning flash after, to Hotel California. Surreal. Thanks for the memory!

    1. Wonderful video, dear Ivor. Thank you! I was doing some reading about Geelong. You’re most fortunate to live in such a “happening” city with so many cultural events and social places to go to. AND you’re on the water …. my favorite location! If I’d known about Geelong 15 years ago, we would have retired there and our family could come visit us! LOL!

    1. Most welcome! What surprised me was no one featured either of these great performers …. especially the iconic Hotel California. The Spanish guitar is beautiful. All the guys look so young and I’ve never seen Joe Walsh looking better than he does here. Very glad you enjoyed these Clive. Thanks!

      1. I can see why that surprises you, as both are great, and you can’t argue with their star quality. I think there were fewer taking part this week, which didn’t help!

          1. I have no idea why that happens. I didn’t find it that hard, but that’s probably because I had an instant choice for it. Have you spotted that next Sunday’s is a repeat of one you suggested last year? Now, do I write the same post again…

            1. No, I hadn’t noticed; I’ll check it out later. If your time is as invested in WordPress as mine is, you should definitely go with whatever you used last time. (After you see what I have coming up on the 2nd, you’ll know what I’m talking about. 🙄🤐) A quick nip/tuck job on your old piece should do nicely. I don’t even remember what I wrote about last time! 🤦🏼‍♀️

              1. I had a reminder when Jim posted again yesterday giving us the heads up, with a long list of possible songs. One of them was the one I wrote about last time. Repeating that does feel a bit like cheating, though 🤣
