Ovi Poem

I Know the Feeling

Written for Ovi Poetry Challenge #81.
This week’s inspiration word is
“sympathy”. This is my Ovi.

You lost a love so true
And now you’re feeling blue
How could this happen to you?
I’ve felt your pain

Each night you shed a tear
For the one you loved so dear
And wishing she was here
I’ve had heartache

You don’t know why she’s gone
It feels so very wrong
And you’re singing a sad song
I know the feeling

It wasn’t so long ago
You said you loved me so
But you dealt me a low blow
I thought I’d die

First you cheated on me with her
Then she left you for another
Now it’s your turn to suffer
I just don’t care

You haven’t any decency
And you won’t feel my pity
You’ll never get my sympathy
I am finished

  1. A fierce song isn’t it! I choreographed a routine to Gaynor’s classic last year. 🔥 Many directions your word could have taken you. Interesting to go in the “no” direction. Creative mind! 👏🏻

    1. And I bet you did a routine for the ages, one not soon forgotten! 😎

You know, Michele, going in the other direction would have been “soppy” and I wasn’t in that mood when I wrote this. I was in a determined frame of mind so I went fierce, like you. 💥 🌋

      Thank you, cara Michele.

      1. Absolutely. I read a wonderful quote on FB the other day:

“If you get on the wrong train, be sure to get off the next stop. The longer you stay on the (more) the trip will cost you.”

I think that says so much!
