If you’re anything like me and can’t find something good to watch on television, you’ll look for a movie. I did exactly that last night and thought it might be fun to share with you what I watched; you might want to watch, too. I can’t promise I’ll suggest a movie every week, but I’ll try. I’ll happily take any suggestions for movies from you as well.
Last night’s fare was a movie from 2022 called “Living” starring the excellent English actor Bill Nighy, recommended to me by our friend, Clive. Here’s a clip to whet your appetite:
I’ll be sure to save you a seat. Enjoy the movie! 🎥 🍿 🥤

The last movie I watched on TV was ‘The Black Phone’, last night. A creepy recent horror.

Not familiar with that one, Glyn. Truth be told, creepy horror flicks are not high on my list of entertainment. 😳

This was a movie based on the Stephen King book of the same name

That would explain it, then. Not a Stephen King fan.

I absolutely love him in everything he does! We just watched (re-watched for me) The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and not too long ago, we saw Page Eight (I highly recommend both).
This one was on my radar and then I didn’t see it anymore and had forgotten it so thank you for reminding me!
Last night, we watched The Piano Lesson – I think this is the third Denzel Washington as producer movie I have seen that is based on a play. Fences was one and the other was Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom – soooo good.

Some excellent suggestions, Dale! Making my list as we “speak”!
Ma Rainey was an extraordinary watch, don’t you think? Chadwick Boseman … now that just breaks my heart. ❤︎

Piacere mio!
It was truly wonderful. And yes, he was fabulous and it’s so sad it was his last. 🤍
Since you like that one, I am sure you will love Fences and The Piano Lesson.

The Piano Lesson I have seen but ages ago; worthy of another look. Fences I’ve not seen. Have you seen August: Osage County? It’s not for every taste but what is? I really got into it.

You are mistaking The Piano with Holly Hunter with The Piano Lesson (2024 film) with Denzel’s son, John David Washington, Samuel Jackson and Danielle Deadwyler (wow… she is good!).
Yes, I have. I love this type of movie, to be honest.
Did you see The Banshees of Inisherin?

Oh, yeah, you’re right. My bad!
No, I don’t know nothin’ bout no banshees! 🧟♀️

Haha! This one is more along the lines of May Rainey, kinda-sorta.
It’s a film with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. It’s not an action film!

Oh, I do love me some Colin Farrell!

Since Marc and I watch movies together, each in our homes, I’ve taken to putting the subtitles on. In this case was definitely useful. Seeing how the name is spelt and how they pronounce it? Like what? I love both of those actors.

I can’t watch a movie without closed captioning, even regular TV shows. I find everyone either talks too fast or mumbles. Even American flicks have become foreign films for me! 😂

Same here. There was an interesting article on the sound for movies. They make it for the theatre but when you watch it at home, you don’t get the same effect. I can’t watch anything without it anymore! It sure beats having to rewind and listen again!

Bill Nighy in a movie basedd on an Ishiguro movie? What a superb combination. It has to be excellent. Save me a seat, two boxes of popcorn, and a medium Coke, please.

It IS excellent, Allan!
See you at the movies.

I’ll check this out! Nighy is a genius talent, carves his oddness into every comic tender thing he does on screen!

Definitely do watch, Liz; you’ll enjoy this tender story. Not filled with shits and giggles; poignant and moving scattered with bits of sweet smiles. Nighy at his best.

Oh that was a terrific movie! I watched it some time ago – I love Bill Nighy – I will search for a movie using his name. The latest I’ve found is about IVF – I am not at all interested in the topic but I may watch it anyway because – Bill Nighy!

Thanks, Grace. Nice to hear from you. I’m in the Bill Nighy camp as well. Everything he does is wonderful!
IVF? Interesting! I’m going to look into that.
