Written for Ovi Poetry Challenge #71.
Our inspiration word is “respect”
and this is my ovi.

How could you cheat on me
Did you think no one would see
You’re not what you said you’d be
A wolf in sheep’s clothing
One endless lie after lie
You never gave us a try
And like a coward I’d cry
Never standing up for myself
I’ve seen you for what you are
Spending your nights in the bar
Driving a fancy, souped-up car
Not a dime for the kids
Listen to me, you loser
You’re nothing but a boozer
I begged you not to choose her
I’ll never respect you again
I have no faith in you
You don’t know how to be true
But I know what to do
Don’t come around here no more
The sight of you makes me sick
You’re a lousy no-good prick
Go be with your other chick
You’re both no good tramps
You have no pride but I do
You and I are through
I want nothing to do with you
Pack your stuff and get the fuck out

I love this poem. Demanding respect is far from easy, but is so necessary.

We can’t … simple as that.

Yikes! Anger! Betrayal! It is a horrible place I’ve known and never want to go back to.

My life now is very peaceful and the heartache is largely dealt with. It is strange the cards life deals each of us. My ex and I have returned over many years of hard work to that place of being easy friends. Your poem brought a remembrance of a time when it was not so easy, but it gave me an opportunity to look back and see how far we have come.

And for that I am happy for you, Joseph. Peace!

That’s what I’d do …. but that’s easy to say, never having been in that type of relationship.

Ha! You blindsided me with the music choice today with that sneaky wee mis-leading heading! 😀

I had a feeling that would cause a state of confusion. I see I was right. 😂

Excellent Ovi, Nancy. Such relationships are not worth the trouble and heartbreak.
