A Reverse Dectina Refrain is written as follows: 1st line is 1 syllable, 2nd line is 2 syllables, 3rd line is 3 syllables, and so on for 9 lines; the 10th line is comprised of the first four lines as one stand-alone thought. Repeat in reverse starting with line 9. Rhyming is optional.

Holy Hannah. When I realized it was a reversal–you make it look easy!👀

OMG Melissa! That is so funny and very kind! I can’t tell you how many times I tried a reversal … a lot! It looks easy, like it would work very time, but it doesn’t. I was thrilled to finally work this one out! Now let’s see how long before I can do another! 😂😳
PS – Our friend David ben A taught me the Dectina. Love that guy for so many reasons. ♡

I’m sure. I struggled through writing a reverso poem for the W3 prompt a bit ago. Yes, David is a cool guy.😎

So glad to know you enjoyed it, Michele. I felt like lying in the grass after I wrote that one! 🪻🌼
Thanks so much! 😊

You know I love your work… poetry, prose, music. All wonderful. It is 102 degrees right now – I am so with you on that grassy wish. 😄

But it’s a dry heat so it’s not so bad …. as people are inclined to say, right?!? 🥵
Thanks so much, Michele! I do know that. 😌

Having spent some time in the south during summer, there is some truth to that. Suppose there is no perfect place. Snowbirds (winter visitors) have it figured out.

True! While extreme heat is awful, it’s definitely worse when it’s also humid.
Stay cool! 😎

I will do my best. You too! This is the time of year I turn into a vampire of sorts. Safer to go out after sunset. 😂 Helps that my teaching work is online now. 😌

Onomatopoeic Italian word for mosquito is zanzara. I love it!

Got it, thanks! 🤓
I thought so but wasn’t 100% sure so checked Google Translate. When I typed in ‘amie’ in French, it was translated into ‘amie’ in English. Say what??? Big help that was! 😝

Just like you can correct my Italiano any time!
Yes, the French, like the Italians, Spaniards, etc. like to give things a gender. Yeah, dump Google Translate and go for Deepl. They give you options!

Thanks, Destiny! I’m good friends with the Dectina but this is the first time I tried doing one in reverse. They don’t always work out; I’m so pleased this one did and you enjoyed it!

much like the ph…. one (forgot the form name for now and lazy to look for it lol)
very much enjoyed.
got this form and the haibun on a proper “to try” lol.

My “to try” includes the palindrome and blitz poems and something called a kimo which Ivor Stevens recently did.
The haibun took me three attempts to get right, with a friend walking me through each attempt as I wrote them on my site! It was a great learning experience. I have no doubt you’ll master it!
