Today at dVerse Quadrille
our prompt word is ‘pinch’;
here is my 44-word response.

The day
I was born,
my father
declared
my cheeks
to be
as
‘rosy as an apple’
and begged,
“Someone,
please,
pinch me!”
My 4 year old
sister,
however,
was quite
annoyed
that I
was born
during
her
birthday party.
She’s
never
forgotten.

Uhoh! Hopefully she’s over it by now.🤭

Fond and funny memories!
I guess that could spoil a birthday party! My second child arrived four days before my older child turned 3. Fortunately, they’ve always been very close.

Things like this happen more frequently than we realize. My two oldest grandchildren have close birthdays, one on May 4 and the other on May 6. We joke that they were conceived during “Magic Moments in Montauk”, our summer vacation spot at the easternmost point of NY 😊
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

My husband, his mother, and our kids were all born in February–so, it’s May magic here. 😉

This is adorable. Love those rosy cheeks. Too bad on the sibling’s party though.

I imagine it would be no fun to now have to share one’s birthday!
My sister was my father’s birthday gift, 53.5 years ago 🙂
This was wonderful, Nancy.

Thanks, JYP!
I remember how annoyed she was when our mother insisted I be allowed to attend her Sweet Sixteen birthday party (I was 12); in hindsight, she was justified.

Mine too. Jealousy is such a destructive emotion. I’ve never been able to understand it. 😉

And yet it comes so easily to some.

I wrote a piece many years ago called “The Jealousy Gene”. It was interesting to me how it seems to run in families. It could come from an environmental influence but within those families there were always some who weren’t “infected”. I consider it a genetic disorder. 😉

Interesting take. I never thought of it as having anything to do with genetics. You might be on to something!

It pertains to certain temperaments which are highly determined by genetics. A fascinating angle to me as well.

My sister was born on my birthday. It wasn’t much fun when we were children, but we’ve loved sharing the day as adults.
