WORDPRESS BLUES

TO ALL MY FRIENDS:

Recently I noticed I am unable to comment directly onto some of your blogs. This has never happened before and is only happening on some blogs which makes it even more of a mystery. If I was unable to comment anywhere on WordPress, I’d know the problem was likely something to do with my settings or my computer; that is not the case.

I’ve had multiple conversations with WordPress; I was told in no uncertain terms that the problem cannot be fixed. I find that very hard to believe. The first suggestion WordPress gave me was to clear my browser cache; in all honesty, that’s the first answer they give to every problem.

You are not just my readers; you are my friends. We have a line of communication going; when that line is broken, it’s very frustrating. I can’t see my comments on your pages and I know you can’t see them either. A friend of mine did a little checking for me and he was unable to see any comments by me on some of your sites.

I have a favor to ask: if you have not seen any comments from me on your site in the last week could you please check your settings and see if I ended up in spam? One friend already confirmed that she found me in her spam settings; once she removed me, she was able to see my comments on her page again.

Thanks for doing this and for understanding this snafu. The WP gremlins are at it again! Please post any questions or comments here. Thank you all so much!

    1. Thanks, Cindy G! I don’t think there’s anyone here who hasn’t had a taste of the WordPress blues at some point of another; I know you have! Everything seems to be working fine now (fingers crossed). Of course I would never drop you, my friend! We’ve been on here too long together for anything like that to happen! ❀️

    1. Thanks to all my lovely friends and readers who were so cool about this whole mess. The problem is now resolved and everything is working great. To paraphrase what you said: WP is so awesome … until it isn’t! Thanks for checking in! I appreciate it!

  2. GREETINGS, EVERYONE!
THIS MORNING I TOOK A LITTLE MORE TIME THAN USUAL GOING THROUGH ALL MY EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS. I COMMENTED ON EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR POSTS AND WAS THRILLED TO FIND MY COMMENTS WENT THROUGH. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR CHECKING YOUR SPAM SETTINGS AND FOR YOUR COOPERATION. I APPRECIATE YOU ALL! I GUESS THE “UNFIXABLE” WORDPRESS PROBLEM WASN’T SO UNFIXABLE AFTER ALL. IT MUST BE MAGIC! πŸ’«

  3. I don’t know how to fix this problem but it might help to go through your list of followers and eliminate as many bots lurkers and zombies as you can. The bots are especially hard to get rid of. They keep coming back like the undead.

    1. There’s nothing more I can do on my end. Don’t exhaust yourself over this, Chris. I’m hoping it will fix itself in your settings. And if it doesn’t, well I can still like your posts even if I can’t comment on them. And I have your email so I can stalk you like a zombie! You’re the best! Thanks so much πŸ’•

  4. Kelly wrote back. I found your lost comments in spam. I’ll look at it and make sure they don’t get stuck there again. There were a few that probably are spam so I left them, I have no idea who they are, some non English speaking person or bot.

    1. Thanks for your legwork, Chris! That’s impressive! Kelly got back to me and she either moved my comments out of spam or the problem fixed itself. I’ve been hearing from a few other people who don’t know how to get into their settings either so don’t feel bad. Hopefully it will keep getting fixed on its own until it’s run its course … like a virus. My fear is I’ll lose some really great blogging friends along the way but there’s nothing I can do on my end, other than try to reach them and ask that they check their settings. Thank you, Chris! ❣️

    1. Thank you so much for checking, Deano! People have been so cool about this; I’m sure everyone appreciates how frustrating these technical issues can be. I appreciate the fact that you took the time to check and notify me. Wishing you a wonderful weekend! πŸ’« πŸ•ŠοΈ

      1. No problem! Actually I just went through my Spam folder when you mentioned that and found tons of messages! But the only one from a write I know was yours. Have a great weekend too!

  5. Recently I find all your comments in spam folder, but I know how WP’s way is, so every day I go to spam folder once to retrieve such comments. So that way, I have not lost a single comment of yours. But yes, I still don’t get notifications of posts of a number of friends including you, in my reader section. That’s why I periodically go to their respective sites to read their posts.

    1. Thank you for all that information, KK! As the old saying goes “Misery loves company” so I’m relieved that this problem is not unique to me. I do not know why these things happen nor why they happen to some people and not others. The (Un)Happiness Engineers at Word(De)Press told me the problem could not be fixed; obviously they were wrong. Again, thank you, KK. πŸ’«

Folks, you “heard” it from KK! I suppose we all could stand to be a little more diligent in cleaning out our spam; I know I could! 🐘

      1. Surprisingly, this comment didn’t end up in spam. Thank you, Nancy, for your quick response. In fact, WP people are also clueless. Technology gives solutions to problems, but if technology itself becomes an enigma, there is no solution.

  6. Hi, Nancy, I don’t know where the spam filter is but I checked my email and saw you sent me one through my web site. Weird. I might have to get my daughter to help me with the spam filter thing.

    1. Yeah, any preschooler or teenager will be able to help you! Haha! Or you could ask WordPress 😳 (or preferably Google). Friends, if anyone wants to pitch in and help Chris out with her spam settings, she’s a really nice lady who’s into zombies and paints great outdoor scenes. Check out her site! Thank so much, Chris!! 🐘

  7. Nancy, on my end, everything seems fine – I did receive a comment from you very recently (don’t remember what day), and I constantly check my spam folder so I know none of your comments ended up there.

    Thanks for caring ❀
